Capabilities

Why choose RAIVENS GPS Devices for Banks

Transaction geo-tagging

Supplies latitude, longitude and satellite-based UTC time for each transaction, so the bank's record shows where the agent actually served the customer.

Plug-and-play USB

Connects to a free USB port and draws power from it. No adapter, external antenna or configuration tool is needed for normal use.

Standard NMEA output

Streams standard NMEA 0183 sentences over a virtual COM port, so GPS-aware banking and kiosk applications can read it without custom code.

Windows drivers ready

32-bit and 64-bit Windows drivers are on the Raivens support page, and an installation video walks through each step.

Serial-number fleet tracking

Every receiver carries a unique serial number, so dispatch, installation, complaints and replacements can be traced device by device.

Quick position fix

With a view of the sky, the receiver typically locks on within a minute from a cold start and re-acquires in seconds after that.

Built for daily use

A compact housing and flexible USB cable suit counters, kiosks and field laptops that are moved and reconnected every day.

Designed and supported in-house

Raivens designs, tests and supports the receivers itself, so driver, version and replacement questions reach the team that built them.

What are USB GPS devices for banks?

USB GPS devices for banks are small satellite receivers that plug into the computer at a Business Correspondent (BC) or Customer Service Point (CSP) and report where that computer is. Banking teams often call them GPS trackers. Strictly, they are receivers: they carry no SIM card and send nothing on their own. They pass the position to the banking application, which stores latitude, longitude and time with every transaction.

Raivens designs and builds its USB GPS receivers in-house and has supplied them in versions 4.0, 5.0 and 8.0. Every version is plug-and-play, powered by the USB port and readable by standard GPS software.

Why transaction geo-tagging matters in agent banking

Agent banking moves branch services into shops, kiosks and homes. That reach depends on trust. A bank needs to know that a cash withdrawal recorded at a BC point really happened there. Geo-tagging supplies that proof. With a location attached to each transaction, banks can:

  • confirm that agents work from their registered location
  • investigate disputes and suspected fraud with evidence
  • support internal and external audits
  • map active agents and find coverage gaps

On a fixed counter PC, other location methods fall short:

Method Location source Typical precision Limitation at a BC point
USB GPS receiver Satellites, read by the device A few meters in open sky Needs a view of the sky
IP address lookup Internet provider records City or region Too coarse to prove a location
Wi-Fi or cell positioning Nearby networks Tens to hundreds of meters Rarely available on desktop PCs
Typed address The agent Unverified Easy to get wrong or fake

Plug-and-play setup

Installation takes three steps. Plug the receiver into a free USB port. Install the driver for your version from the support page. Select the new COM port in your banking or kiosk application. The receiver streams standard NMEA 0183 data, the format GPS-aware software already reads, so integration rarely needs custom code. Drivers cover 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, and an installation video walks agents through each step.

For a faster, steadier fix, place the receiver near a window or an outside wall. A USB extension cable helps in deeper rooms.

Fleet tracking by serial number

Large agent networks run thousands of receivers, and each one needs an owner, a location and a service history. Every RAIVENS USB GPS receiver carries a unique serial number that is recorded at factory test and again at dispatch. Operations teams can link each serial to an agent, check self-test results and follow complaints, returns and replacements. The same records feed the lifecycle tools and dashboards described in hardware and software technologies for banks and BCs.

Built for the complete BC point

The GPS receiver is one part of a working agent-banking setup. Pair it with a fingerprint scanner for national ID-based biometric authentication, a handheld POS machine for card and cash services, and a payment soundbox for spoken payment confirmation. The receivers also suit bank kiosks and field laptops that need location capture.

Integration and support

Raivens handles electronics design, firmware, testing and after-sales support in-house, so questions about drivers, versions or bulk supply reach the team that built the device. For bulk quotations, integration help or advice on a difficult site, contact our team. Driver downloads and setup help stay available on the support page.

Use cases

Where it makes a difference

BC and CSP points

Agents serving customers from a shop or kiosk geo-tag every withdrawal, deposit and inquiry, giving the bank location evidence for each entry.

Bank kiosks

Self-service kiosks report a fixed position, so the bank can confirm each unit is still where it was installed.

Field laptops for doorstep banking

Staff visiting villages, markets and homes record where each account opening or collection took place.

Audits and location checks

Audit teams compare transaction coordinates with each agent's registered address and follow up on entries that do not match.

Agent network planning

Mapped transaction locations show where agents are active and where coverage gaps remain.

FAQ

GPS Devices for Banks: common questions

What is a GPS tracker for banks and BC agents?

In agent banking, a GPS tracker is usually a USB GPS receiver plugged into the agent's computer. It reads satellite signals and passes the position to the banking application, which stores the coordinates with each transaction. The RAIVENS USB GPS receiver needs no SIM card or data plan of its own, so the bank gets an independent location for every withdrawal, deposit or inquiry made at a BC or CSP point.

Why do banks geo-tag agent-banking transactions?

Geo-tagging proves that a transaction happened at the agent's registered location. Banks use it to spot agents working from unregistered places, to investigate disputes and suspected fraud with evidence, to support audits and to map where their agent network is active. A USB GPS receiver from Raivens gives each BC point this evidence automatically, without asking the agent to type an address or relying on coarse internet-based location.

How do I install a USB GPS device on a Windows computer?

Plug the receiver into a free USB port, then download and install the driver for your receiver version from the Raivens support page. Windows will list the receiver as a COM port. Select that port in your banking or kiosk application and keep the receiver near a window or under open sky. The first position fix usually arrives within a minute, after which the application reads location continuously.

Does the USB GPS receiver work indoors?

GPS signals are weak inside buildings, so placement matters. A receiver on a windowsill or near an outside wall usually gets a fix, and a USB extension cable can bring it closer to the sky in deeper rooms. Metal roofs, basements and thick concrete can block signals completely, so test the position once during installation. The Raivens support team can advise on placement for difficult sites.

Which versions of the USB GPS receiver are available?

Raivens has produced its USB GPS receiver in versions 4.0, 5.0 and 8.0. Each connects over USB, appears as a COM port and outputs standard NMEA location data, so applications written for one version can usually read the others. Drivers differ by version, so download the one that matches your device. For new deployments, the sales team will recommend a version for your operating system and quantities.

How is the USB GPS receiver different from a vehicle GPS tracker?

A vehicle GPS tracker has its own SIM card and sends its location to a server by itself. A USB GPS receiver has no SIM; it gives position data to the computer it is plugged into, and the banking application decides what to store and send. That makes the Raivens receiver simple to deploy at BC points, with no extra data plan, while every transaction record still carries a verified location.

Can banks track a fleet of GPS devices by serial number?

Yes. Every receiver has a unique serial number that is recorded from factory testing through dispatch. Banks and BC network managers can map each serial to an agent, follow self-test results and handle complaints, returns and replacements device by device. The same records feed the lifecycle and monitoring dashboards in the Raivens hardware and software platform for banks and BCs, so the whole device fleet stays visible in one place.

Can we order USB GPS receivers in bulk for an agent network?

Yes. Raivens supplies USB GPS receivers in volume to banks, BCs and agent-banking networks, with serial-number records, dispatch tracking and after-sales support. Bulk orders can include installation guidance for agents, driver packages for your IT team and integration help for your banking application.
